Lynea
US Popularity Rank: 11480
Origin: Scandinavian
Meaning: Lime tree; twin flower
Scandinavian in origin, Lynea is a feminine name intertwined with vibrant, fruitful blooms. As a variation of Linnéa, Lynea has two possible roots, the first being the Swedish Lind, meaning "lime tree." The more compelling is that of historic Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus—later ennobled Carl von Linné—regarded as the father of modern taxonomy. Greatly regarded by philosophers and poets alike, Linnaeus is forever interlinked with his favorite bloom, the twin flower, which was named Linnaea borealis in his honor.
