Jacian

US Popularity Rank: 20798

Origin: British

Meaning: The Lord is my salvation; Healer

Jacian is a variant of the English name Jace, itself a shortened form of the Greek Jason, meaning “healer.” The word derives from the Greek word iaomai, meaning “to heal.” In Greek mythology, Jason was a famous hero and leader of the Argonauts who undertook the quest for the Golden Fleece. Jacian may also be a variant of the Hebrew name Yehoshua or Joshua, meaning “the Lord is my salvation.” In the Old Testament, Joshua was Moses' assistant and, in the Hebrew Bible, later succeeded him as the leader of the Israelites. With its unique spelling, Jacian offers a rarer alternative to both of these classic names, while retaining their historical connections.
