Balser

US Popularity Rank: None

Origin: Swiss

Meaning: Of Balthasar; Bel protects the King

Balser is a Swiss and German form of Balthasar, meaning "Bel protects the King." With roots in Greek and Hebrew and the Christian New Testament, this name honors one of three Magi present at the birth of Jesus. Balthasar brought the gift of myrrh, an incense-like oil, to help protect baby Jesus through prayer. Balser will make for a lovely fit if you want to share your Christian faith with baby. It's also quite rare a pick in Switzerland because saints recognized by the Catholic Church were less popular after the Protestant Reformation. While baby may not have Three Wise Men present at their birth, this rare gem will bring them endless blessings!
